Heirloom Desk
Heirloom maple and walnut
The walnut for this desk came from their family farm in Kalamazoo, MI and the maple top came from Calumet, MI where the customer had a cabin. They took this tree down and sawed this particular part of the tree into four slabs. Well, three of them burned in a warehouse fire where they were being stored and this was the last remaining piece. The customer wanted to turn it into a desk using the walnut somehow. I came up with the concept for the curved drawer front and mitering the walnut side to the top.
